What are you talking about!
I recently shared with someone an off the wall design idea that I plan to try. Their response was "ohhhh you better not take that chance". With out even thinking about it, I responded with "what are you talking about! My whole career, and life for that matter, is where it is BECAUSE I take chances." I would much rather be known for taking chances and discovering a few amazing new things than the girl who always got it right on account of playing it safe. Sometimes the most incredible creations occur through our "mistakes". I am so proud of the way my response rolled off my tongue so naturally. What ever it is you are "considering" taking a chance on.....YOU SHOULD GO FOR IT! I recommend living a life FULL of responsible risks!

This will be my first contribution to a new web site!
Coming from a family of artist made choosing interior design as my college major an easy choice. I have two super creative parents and although my education and experience have played a key role in the success of my career I think that my authentic creativity is hereditary. I had a splatter painted room (yes this was my MOMS idea) at age 13 and was also never DIScouraged from dabbling in my parents art studio at my childhood home. You can be sure that my 6TH grade “make an erupting volcano project” was “OFF THE CHAIN” as the cool kids would say. I finished up my Interior Design degree at Central Arkansas in 2001 and was then recruited by a man, now my amazing husband, to relocate my lil self to Oklahoma. Still here so I guess you could say things are working out. I love all aspects of design especially COLOR! I would call my personal style warm, modern, eclectic. I love spaces that look lived in which is where the “warm” comes from. Spaces that look like they were put together over time instead of yanked from a show room are much more inviting. The “modern” part of my style is my love for clean lines and my less is more approach. You ever go in a room that has so much stuff in it you don’t know where to look? Well….I don’t do rooms like that. If you like that look I can take you there but it will be against my better judgment. My “eclectic” style is where you will see my personality. I like quirky, unique items that cause people to ask “where did you get that idea”. Everybody has a little of this in them and I make it my mission to bring it out. The love I have for design is much deeper than the paint on the walls. The passion I have for the people that live inside those walls is what makes what I do so special. I hope that you will stop in often and that each time you will leave inspired!

It's curtains for the curtains!
I am putting a stop to this MADNESS right now! The things that hang over your windows for decoration
(usually made of fabric) are called window treatments or draperies. THEY ARE NOT CURTAINS! When I did my design internship in college I worked at a drapery shop and Mrs. Linda quickly made it clear to me that she didn't make "curtains" that "curtains" are sold @ K-Mart. I never said it again. MY definition of the word is - when you are done, finished, it's over.... as in "it's curtains for you girl". ahhhhh....I feel so much better now that I have let that out.
